Standby UPS and VFD (Voltage and Frequency Dependent) are other names for offline UPS, which provide the most basic form of power protection. The UPS output is delivered via an integrated EMI/RFI filter when the mains supply is available. This filter protects the load from transients and spikes by clamping peak voltage to pre-established limits.A relay connects the load to the inverter output when the mains supply fails or varies outside of the UPS's operational window; this causes a 4–8 ms transfer time. When the mains supply is there and things are operating normally, the output voltage and frequency will follow the input voltage and frequency, respectively.Any UPS with this configuration is referred to as "Offline" since the inverter is turned off when the UPS is functioning normally.
There are so many famous Offline UPS brands in Bangladesh that come with a series of Offline UPS for their customers. Ultratech collection includes renowned brands such as TOGGI, MaxGreen UPS, Power Guard UPS, Power Pac UPS, Santak UPS, APOLLO UPS, KSTAR UPS, Zigor UPS, Digital X UPS and IDEAL UPS.
A Standby UPS is an offline unit that can detect an electrical failure and switch to battery power automatically. The two other UPS categories are Line Interactive and Online Devices, with online being the more expensive option. Each type of UPS keeps network devices operational when power is unavailable.
The basic Standby UPS is an uninterruptible power source that delivers short-term, battery-sourced power during outages. With this category of UPS, hardware receives utility power, under normal conditions, through a direct AC connection. The standby unit and its inverter are essentially on hold until backup power is needed. Depending upon the model, a standby UPS device can also safeguard data and sensitive equipment from surges, spikes, and dips. Compact devices are available for home network protection. A Standby UPS is commonly used to protect computers, modems, VoIP equipment, and other hardware. This category of UPS is the least expensive of the three UPS types.
A Line-interactive UPS is one type of uninterruptible power source that can regulate voltage automatically. The line-interactive technology responds to high and low voltage conditions. Units also support systems during outages without battery drainage. With a line-interactive UPS, the electrical source is the first line of power; however, an inverter/converter technology allows for the unit’s battery to be charged throughout normal operations. During an outage, this UPS converts battery power to AC flow for device delivery.
Offline UPS, sometimes described as standby power supply (SPS) are systems where the load is fed directly from the raw mains during normal operations instead of the inverter outputs. When the mains supply fails or fluctuates outside of the UPS's operating window, a relay connects the load to the inverter output (resulting in a 4-8ms transfer time). In normal operation, with mains supply present, both output voltage and frequency will track the input voltage and frequency respectively.
